I remember the day my Mom told me over the phone she had cancer. She was originally diagnosed with early stage breast cancer, DCIS. As a nurse I knew that wasn’t so bad. She can get a little treatment and she will be okay. Just fine. She went for a chest xray and standard workup like everyone does. The Dr. said there is something on the chest xray. It needs to be biopsied. We were confident it was nothing. But it wasn’t nothing. It was stage IV lung cancer with multiple bone mets. I cried for days. Our family was devastated. How could that be? She has two different cancers! After the initial shock, we gathered our thoughts and prayers. We began to believe she can beat this too. Our faith in God and his love for us is what gets us through. The Dr. gave her 6 months with treatment. That was 2 years ago. In September of last year she was told she has a very large brain tumor, metastatic from the lung cancer. She had one week of radiation. They gave her 1 month. That was 4 months ago. She is tired a lot but is still fighting. She just finished chemo again this past week. As a family we are evolving through this process. We support her and still believe she can be healed. We have not given up hope and neither has Mom.
For all those families out there that are struggling with this disease, I want to say, “Never give up hope”. There were quite a few times when we thought we were going to lose Mom, but we didn’t. Through her will and God’s will she is still here. That is why I wrote this eBook. I wanted to help families like mine that are going through what we have and are currently going through. You can get through this, there is hope. I pray for you and the healing of your loved one. God bless! Terri
